Multicultural Calendars

Over the last decade, in the spirit of mutual understanding and respect, International Training and Development, LLC has produced an annual Multicultural Calendar. While we are no longer producing our calendar, we would like to recommend four key sources on which we came to rely. Each of these resources provides insight and information into holidays and sacred days of people from around the world. I hope you enjoy these resources as much as we have.

The Multicultural Resource Calendar
www.diversityresources.com

This calendar contains over 600 entries of birthdays, historical / cultural events, days of religious observance, and public holidays for 35 cultures and religions and 85 countries. It includes entries for such groups as African Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, Asian / Pacific Americans, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, and Jews, as well as other groups that have faced discrimination. The Multicultural Resource Calendar has won awards for the last two years from the Calendar Marketing Association in the 'most educational' category. Order the calendar online for $21.95 or call 1.800.865.5549. Diversity Resources also offers an Intranet version of the calendar for organizations.

NCCJ Interfaith Calendar
www.nccj.org

The NCCJ InterFaith Calendar is produced with the cooperative effort of 14 religious communities. It is a 14" x 22", full-color, fourteen-month, wall calendar and highlights the following communities: American Indian, Anglican Christianity, Bahá'í, Buddhism, Catholic Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Judaism, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Orthodox Christianity, Protestant Christianity, Sikhism, and Zoroastrianism.

On each community's page are examples of religious art, a summary of beliefs, practices, religious writings, demographic information, and a listing and explanation of religious observances. The calendar is a six-time-recipient of the Calendar Marketing Association's Gold Award in the category of 'Most Educational Wall Calendar.' Check out the calendar online or call 800.311.9823. The price is $19.00.

Web Resources
www.interfaithcalendar.org
The Interfaith Calendar has several features that make it particularly helpful. All information on the site is available as a free download, the calendar projects holiday dates five years into the future, and a Spanish-language edition is available. In addition to calendars for over a dozen religions, the Interfaith Calendar offers definitions of terms, information on families of religions, and an extensive list of generally reliable religious news sources and other linked sites.

www.earthcalendar.net

The Earth Calendar is a daybook of holidays and celebrations around the world. All information is provided free of charge. Its many listings are organized by date, country, religion, and lunar phases. A special feature is the 'Today' button which provides a listing of holidays observed on this date.
